We read everything that comes in. We cannot advise on an individual child, but corrections, translation help and accessibility problems get our full attention.

988 — call or text for a mental health crisis, including your own as a caregiver. Interpreters available; say your language in English.
911 — if your child is missing. Say "autistic and may not respond to their name" and mention water.
211 — for local help with respite, food, utilities and housing.
Email here is checked occasionally, not continuously. It is not a crisis line.

Write in whatever language you are most comfortable in. We will find a way to read it.
What we can help with
Corrections
If a state programme name, agency or phone number here is wrong or out of date, tell us which state and what you found. This is the most valuable message you can send us.
Accessibility problems
If a page does not work with your screen reader, keyboard, magnifier or switch access, describe what happened and what you were using. We treat these as defects, not feedback.
Translation help
Native speakers willing to review or extend a translation are exactly who we need, particularly for the crisis and state pages.
Reuse and reprinting
Parent groups, clinics and schools are welcome to print or adapt this material. Write and tell us what you need.
What we cannot do
- Advise on your individual child. We are not clinicians and cannot assess a child by email. Your paediatrician, your early intervention programme or a developmental specialist can.
- Represent you against a school district. Your state's Parent Training and Information Center does this for free, and your Protection & Advocacy agency provides free legal advocacy. Both are listed on your state page.
- Recommend a specific provider. We do not maintain a vetted list, and a recommendation we cannot stand behind is worse than none.
- Take payment or donations for placement. Nothing on this site can be bought.
Please do not send us
Medical records, evaluation reports, IEPs or photographs of your child. We do not need them, and email is not a secure way to send them. If you are describing a situation, a few sentences with no identifying details is plenty.
